FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

What is chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a unique, holistic therapy that provides a non-invasive, drug-free and non-surgical approach to healthcare. Chiropractors are proficient at diagnosing, treating and preventing dysfunction of the musculoskeletal and nervous system.

When should I see a chiropractor?

A chiropractor can assess and manage neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Biomechanical problems usually occur through excessive stress on the body; through physical trauma, sports injuries, repetitive motions, lack of excercise and bad postural habits.

Do chiropractors treat conditions other than the spine?

Chiropractors do not just treat spinal conditions. Chiropractors can assess any joints and injuries of the musculoskeletal system. Chiropractors are also qualified to provide advice to patients regarding exercise, nutrition, posture and lifestyle in order to manage symptoms and prevent future reoccurances.

What training and qualifications does a chiropractor receive?

Chiropractors are required to adhere to strict and extensive educational requirements and standards to become registered health professionals in Australia. Australian chiropractors are five year university trained, and are government registered and regulated health professionals.

A chiropractor's education never ends. After entering practice, all chiropractors must complete continuing professional development courses and seminars to upgrade and improve their skills and to stay current on the latest scientific research.
